Enchanting the classic songbook, with elegance, beauty and flair, Karine Basque is a unique vocal talent capable of weaving a beautiful musical journey of jazz standards. With grace and style, Karine can equally deliver on beautiful nuanced performances in both English and French. Being relatively new to live performance has worked in Karine's favor, as she brings an unmistakable ''joie de vivre'' to the material and her performances are genuine and a lot of fun as a result.
Even in her profession as a registered nurse, music has found ways to influence her day to day, including one occasion where Karine sang the Acadian love song Évangéline, to a gentleman in palliative care because that was his favorite song. She even recorded him a CD with the song that he listened to until he took his last breath. She used music for pain management during painful procedures, she used it to help dementia patients, always being in awe in front of their capacity to remember the lyrics of their favorites songs even if they could no longer have a normal conversation... To put a finer point on it, Karine not only loves to sing, it is who she is, and that joy and passion effortlessly spills from the stage during every performance.
As a performer, Karine has sharpened her skills thanks to a residency type of engagement at The Southside Shake/Hilton Fredericton, and the 2023 December program of Christmas carols during Fredericton tree lighting ceremony, had the city talking about the talents of this exciting chanteuse. This year has also seen Karine and her band graduate to festival sized stages as well, with a breakout debut at the 2024 FestiVin in Caraquet and at the Officers Square's brand new stage.

Depending on the occasion, Karine's backing band can be as intimate as a three-piece, perfect for smaller speakeasy feel, to a full fledged five-piece capable of entertaining larger rooms and cabarets. If light jazz is what your event calls for, Karine can fit any bill.

Enchantant le répertoire classique avec élégance, beauté et flair, Karine Basque est une talentueuse chanteuse capable de tisser un magnifique voyage musical à travers les standards de jazz dans les deux langues officielles. Avec grâce et style, Karine peut offrir des performances magnifiquement nuancées en anglais et en français. Relativement nouvelle dans la performance live, Karine a su tirer avantage de cette situation, apportant une 'joie de vivre' indéniable à son répertoire, rendant ses performances authentiques et très amusantes.
Même dans sa profession d'infirmière diplômée, la musique trouve des moyens d'influencer son quotidien, y compris une occasion où Karine a chanté la chanson d'amour acadienne Évangéline à un homme en soins palliatifs,parce que c'était sa chason préférée. Elle a même enregistré une version de la chanson pour lui offrir du réconfort durant ses derniers jours.Elle a aussi souvent utilisé la musique comme méthode de traitement de la douleur pour des procédures douloureuses et aussi pour réconforter les patients atteints de démence, qui, comme par miracle, se souvenaient des paroles de leurs chansons préférées. En d'autres termes, Karine ne se contente pas d'aimer chanter, c'est qui elle est, et cette joie et passion se déversent sans effort à chaque performance.
En tant que performeuse, Karine a affiné ses compétences grâce à un engagement de type résidence au Southside Shake/Hilton Fredericton, et le programme de chants de Noël lors de la cérémonie d'illumination de l'arbre de Noël du Parlement à Fredericton en Décemdre 2023, a fait parler la ville à propos des talents de cette chanteuse passionnante. Cette année, Karine et son groupe sont également passés à des scènes de taille de festival, avec un début éclatant au FestiVin de Caraquet ainsi qu'au Quartier des Officiers de Frédéricton.

Garry Hansen
Over the lastย three decades,ย Garry Hansen (guitar)ย has performed with such well-known Frederictonย groups as the Don Bossรฉ Quartet, the Jenn Russell Big Band,ย the Nick DeVries Quartet, the Thomists, the STU Jazz Ensemble, and in Toronto with the Buddy Aquilina Big Band. ย In addition to fronting his own jazz quartet andย performing in the duo of Hansen/Ball, he was also a founding member of the ECMA-nominated Uptown Jazz Quartet. ย ย ย
As a first-call musician for theatre pit bands, he has played guitar (and occasionally banjo, mandolin, or bass) in overย fortycommunity, semi-professional, and professional theatrical productions,ย most recentlyย Sweet Dreams:ย Theย Air Supply Musicalย andย Broadway by the Sea.

Chad began his music career as part of the UNB Guitar Trio, but truly found his voice when he picked up the double bass. Stylistically, Chad draws energy from the pivotal piano trios of the New York scene, as well as the cerebral approach of European jazz. As part of the New Brunswick music scene, Chad has played in bands ranging in style from big band swing (The Thomists) to small combo jazz (Hansen|Ball, Don Bosse Quartet), but is truly at home exploring harmonies in tandem with a piano player.

Chad is the co-creator and host of Fredericton's 'Gin and Jazz' music series. He received his Minor in Music at the University of New Brunswick and now teaches at Leo Hayes High School in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

Drummer and Percussionist
Daveโs interest in playing jazz was built on a foundation of playing in a High School Stage Band that went on to win the Nationals. He followed that up with a stint as the drummer for the St. FX University Stage Band while studying in the Jazz Program at St.FX. After leaving X and moving to Halifax, N.S., to join a band, he spent several years on the road touring. Dave has played as far west as Vancouver, played down in the United States, and toured in Europe.
Dave plays many different styles of music, and has performed and/or recorded 17 Albums with Artists such as Ken Tobias (top 10 hit), Kenny MacLean (Platinum Blonde), Terry Hattie (The Guess Who), Juno Award winning Jazz Saxophone player Joel Miller, 2023 ECMA nominee DEE HERNANDEZ, and many others. With multiple ECMA nominations, live performances on National Television, multiple videos on Much Music, Dave strives to be a versatile player, bringing creative ideas whatever the musical environment.

Jorian Hapeman
Jorian was first put into piano lessons at age 4 and studied classical piano throughout his childhood. He discovered jazz in his teenage years and shortly after graduating high school, moved to Toronto to study jazz pianoย at Humber College. Since moving back home to Fredericton, he has been an active musician in city playing styles ranging from jazz, gospel, blues, RnB, and Cuban music! He can be seen playing with groups such as the Don Bosse quartet, the Jenn Russell Big Band and Los Amigos

Karine sings with passion. I love how she shows emotion and confidence throughout her performance. Her voice is jazzy and beautiful, sings with power and control. Besides having a beautiful singing voice, Karine is very commited, determined and self-confident.

The beautiful sounds that come from this trio make you close your eyes and take you to a spot that you would only imagine in a beautiful painting and a museum. Every song they play is so gorgeous and with it's own unique style . How they put their own spin on some true jazz classics takes my breath away. Any chance I get to see this group perform I absolutely take it and I am so grateful that they found each other and I get to hear them

Depuis que je connais Karine, elle ne cesse de grandir musicalement. Cโest une artiste passionnรฉe qui nโa pas peur des dรฉfis. Une femme qui a dรฉcidรฉ de poursuivre ses rรชves. Comme quoi, il nโy a pas dโรขge pour commencer une passion.
Karine a maintenant son propre trio Jazz en plus de chanter avec les JazzMoiZelles. Elle est trรจs active sur la scรจne musicale du Nouveau Brunswick. Je suis tellement frรจre de son dรฉveloppement artistique !
